The ACCWS is the premier membership body dedicated to the advocacy and support of credentialed wound care providers to stimulate and promote education for the medical community and the public at large regarding quality management of patients with wounds thus improving the public’s health.
Message from the Chair
As I begin my term as Chair of the College’s Board, I reflect on the amount of time, effort and work those who have held this chair have done in making what the College is today. The advancement of the College to the position it has obtained in advancing wound care throughout the world is a significant accomplishment and attests to the concept of uniting the diversity of wound care specialists in a community dedicated to the advancement of wound care: a concept that I hope to further as Chair of the College. The Journal of the College has just completed an agreement with the National Library of Medicine which will make articles published in the Journal available to readers through PubMed Central. Journal Editor, Richard Simman, MD, FACS, FACCWS stated that ‘the availability of Journal articles through PubMed Central will greatly enhance the status of the Journal while making it an attractive venue for authors and researchers.’

III Annual Symposium on Advancing the Standards in Wound Care
The College, together with Kindred Hospital Dayton and Boonshoft School of Medicine, WSU, will again sponsor its very popular Annual Symposium on Advancing Standards in Wound Care on Friday, October 11th. Success in Latin America
The College recently completed a series of lectures in a number of Latin American cities drawing numbers from 160 to 250 per event. As a result of its agreement with the Professional Leadership Academy – a Bogota Colombia based educational organization – ACCWS members delivered lectures in Sao Paulo, Brazil; Quito, Ecuador; Medellin, Cali and Bogota, Colombia. The Board of Directors expresses its deep appreciation to the following Fellows for the generous use of their time and energies in making these highly successful events possible: Michael Moore, MD; Marvin Heyboer III, MD; Tammy Luttrell, PhD; Jesse Cantu, RN and Don Mrdjenovich, DPM.
ACCWS 2012 Honorary Fellow: Caroline Fife, MD HFACCWS
An Honorary Fellow shall be an individual of national or international stature who has made an outstanding contribution to the interdisciplinary practice of wound management and who has been selected by the Board of Directors of the ACCWS.
Nominating Committee Chair Calls for Recommendations
Rose Hamm, Chair of the Board’s Nominating Committee, has called upon the membership to put forth individuals worthy of being an effective member of the College’s Board of Directors. Individuals nominated must be Fellows of the College and members in good standing. The deadline for submitting recommendations is 25 July 2013. Members will have the opportunity to vote later in the fall.
